Climate change is a major obstacle to the local economic development, which is primarily agricultural. In 12 months, about 3-6 months, the district is affected by salinity intrusion. The district has only one water plant, meeting the needs of one third of the 150,000 people. On education section, only three schools have water tanks and filters to use, temporarily meeting the needs of students and teachers. 52 proposed schools in the program are still in difficult circumstances, with no clean water.
